An alpine slope mower is a mower capable of handling terrain which is steeper than 30 degrees, with the following characteristics:
- Stability, low center of gravity to prevent roll over. Thereby ensuring safe operation.
- Agility, due to rough terrain maneuverable is needed to cope with tight turns around obstacles.
- Impact, low impact to turf and grip to prevent sliding.
- Torque, for hill climbing steep alpine slopes with your mower.
Types of slope mowers
There are a number of alpine slope mowers available and in different sizes. Below is a list, which we will update as we find new types:
- Scythe, the historical winner. Last year there was an interesting exhibition in, Switzerland, Zurich, that embraces the Scythe, called Of Scythes, Scythe Hammers and Work Songs.
- Weed Wacker, a.k.a. string trimmer, strimmer, or bush cutter.
- Ride on mower.
- Stand on mower.
- Push behind mower.
- Remote controlled mower. Also know as Radio Controlled (RC) slope mower, Remote alpine slope mower, hillside remote mower or mountain side mower. Due to the radio controlled nature of this mower it is inherently safe to use. As the operator can be perched on ground with sure footing.
For us the safest and most fun to use is the Remote controlled mower. This is where our passion lies.
